  Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary The purpose of this learning experience is for students to determine what plants need in order to survive. Students must understand the definition of a cycle as covered in an earlier unit about the Water Cycle. They will have already started the unit and will have already planted seeds in two individual pots.
  Colors Designed to teach young children, aged 3 to 4, to recognize, sort, and mix colors.
  Life Cycle and Migration of Monarch Butterfly Following development of a butterfly, students set it free to begin a journey to Mexica for winter.
  Turtles The students will learn the basic parts of a turtle, the life cycle of turtles, and the kinds of turtles that live in St. Lawrence County.
  Vocational-Math for Early Childhood Occupations Create safe and healthy learning environment for children.
  What Do You Hear? Students in Pre-Kindergarten will begin to learn to discriminate sounds at the beginning of words. Each student will be able to isolate the sound at the beginning of his/her name, and find other words that begin with the same sound.
  What Do You See? Pre-K students will learn to expand their knowledge of four basic shapes and eight basic colors.
  Plants A plant is a living system made up of parts that work together to meets its needs. In these activities, children explore plant growth and discover the parts of plants.
  A Parade of Penguins Kindergarten students will study four different types of penguins over a five day period. This unit will be completed during the winter season between units dealing with bears and hibernation and eskimos and environment. Through a variety of group and individual work and projects students will learn about special characterisitics that each penguin possesses to adapt to their environment.
  The Earth's Underwater Zoo: Under The Sea This learning experience demonstrates the variety of underwater environments and exquisite forms of life.
  Shhhh! Animals Hibernating! This learning experience meets the needs of all learners because it implements all the learning styles. All the students are actively involved in their learning with this hands-on activity. The students are given the opportunity to make decisions and observations on their own with the teacher as a facilitator.
  Up to Our Nose in Snow Essential Questions: What is measurement? What is snow? What would our life be like without measurement?

  Zoo Looking To introduce students to the animals of the Burnet Park Zoo. They will determine: What are the animals they will see at the Burnet Park Zoo and how are animals selected for the Burnet Park Zoo? This was the first research project and part of a larger unit on Zoo animals. This unit follows a previous unit on Animals. Students were taught the various animal groupings, coverings, and eating habits.
  Something Fishy Going On Essential Questions: What type of a physical environment is necessary for life to exist in the ocean? How are human social needs the same as creatures of the ocean?
  Life Cycles K - Science - Students will be aware of the different stages of life in different creatures.
  Kindergarten Pets This unit is to make the students aware of the different animals that make good pets. It also teaches the students how to care for pets.
  Dinosaur Characteristics and Groupings The purpose of this learning experience is for students to become aware of different dinosaur characteristics and how dinosaurs can be grouped according to their characteristics. This correlates with Mathematics, Science, and Technology Standard
  Oceans of Fun Students will create an ocean life 3D environment.
  Under The Sea Students will recoanize defining characteristics of ocean animals and learn their names.
  McOne Hundredth Day Students use mathematical reasoning to analyze mathematical situations, make conjectures, gather evidence, and construct an argument.
  On The Move Students examine transportation and vehicles as tools to complete tasks and as influences on our daily lives.
  Hickory Dickory Dock Essential Questions: Why is time important? Why do we need to know what time it is? How does telling time/calendar reading help us to do our daily routine?
  Life on a Farm Science/ELA
  What is Foot? This learning experience reflects current scholarship and "best" classroom practices in those students are given visual, tactile, individual, and small group experiences.
  Down on the Farm Essential Questions: What kind of background information helps children develop vocabulary in order to become effective communicators? What skills do children need to develop to become lifelong readers and writers? How can young children practice problem solving? What kinds of technology can young children utilize in order to collect information? What kind of practice in numbers and numeration helps young children understand basic mathematical concepts?
  Goodness Corillas in our Community The purpose of this learning experience is to extend student's prior knowledge of the term community.
  How Plants Grow This unit combines literature, technology and art to introduce students to how plants grow and the importance of plants in our world. It takes two to three weeks depending on how long each day you choose to spend on this topic.
