  The Great Puzzle Learning experience meets above criteria since students analyze a theory and the elements that support or discredit the theory of Alfred Wegoner. They prove or disprove an hypothesis and evaluate their conclusion. It supports the standards of scientific inquiry in that the explanation of a natural phenomenon is developed in a creative process. All the students are actively engages in the process.
  Student-made Web Pages...Show Off Their Work! Designed to teach students how to create a web page using Netscape Communicator's Composer and can be used by students in grades 3-12 to present their projects or research on their school's web page. Designed to be taught in a lab setting and will be used by the technology teacher in coordination with the classroom teacher.
  It's a Zoo Out There Designed to integrate the disciplines of English 10, Biology and Technology. Students generate a professional fundraising brochure to demonstrate their technical writing skills, their understanding of ecosystem bio-diversity, and skills associated with the use of Publisher ’97 software. Requirements for the project are presented to students using a brochure that contains necessary directions. The process and topic outlined here could easily be adapted to other grade
  Inching Our Way Into the Metric System Students will understand mathematics and become mathematically confident by communicating and reasoning mathematically, by applying mathematics in real-world settings, and by solving problems through the integrated study of number systems, algebra, data analysis, probability, and trigonometry.
  Introduction to graphing linear equations This unit is appropriate for accelerated junior or senior high students to be used as an introduction to graphing linear equations using a graphing calculator.

  Her story: Women's Sports and Title IX Focuses on women and thier impact on literature and history.
  Where On Earth? Purpose is for students to be able to estimate the size and shape of the earth. They will create and understand representations of the earth's surface (mapping, profiling, gradient, . . .) and describe what activities created the surface features that are observed. They will also reflect on human activity with regard to the earth's surface. This will be accomplished through in-class activities and laboratories, as well as independent projects.
  Yeas and Nays: Parilamentary Procedure Essential Questions: What internal structure enables officers of varied groups to conduct business in a consistent and orderly manner? Which international, national, local groups apply the principals of parliamentary procedure? What are the ingredients necessary for a smooth running meeting? What vocabulary is associated with parliamentary procedure? What are the established authorities on parliamentary procedure?
  Ecology: Can We Stop the Damage? Students will understand the themes in ecology, the general impact humans have on the environment and basic ways to help control pollution. Students will assume the role of a lobbyist and research a source of pollution and ways to control it, in preparation of a 2-4 minute television commercial. The total time estimated for this unit is 7-8 84 minute blocks.

  The Path Less Followed Students will be learning about the Adirondack Mountain Region. They will learn about trees, rocks, survival skills, and maps.
  Powerpoint Presents: Poetry Builds students' knowledge of poetic devices, exercises library research skills. They work in collaborative pairs to prepare/present oral interpretation/analysis of poem, biographical information about poet, enhanced by Powerpoint presentation. Integration of English, library, and technology skills provides evidence of having achieved several NYS Learning Standards. (ELA #1-Using Language for Information/Understanding: Speaking/ writing to acquire and transmit information; MST Standard #5-Technology-Using technological knowledge/skills to design, construct, use, evaluate products and systems to satisfy human and environmental needs.
  Design a Business Card (3.5 x 2 inches) The student experience is within the Business Education program and falls within the course of Business Analysis/Business Computer Applications as well as graphic arts. To successfully complete this experience, the students need to know the components of a good business card and should be to be able to run the business card portion of a software program.
  Yearbook The unit deals with the creation of a yearbook on computer. It covers the business side of book sales, marketing, and producing the yearbook. It uses desktop publishing on two different types of software with much emphasis on graphics. Students must understand business contract, deadline to publishers, and the actual creation of a book.
  McCadan's Quarterly Report Community Research: This learning experience is part of a larger learning unit called Data Analysis Interpreting Tables and Graphs. In this learning unit, fourth graders were presented with an authentic problem from a local business and were challenged to solve the problem using experimental inquiry. Students were expected to analysis data, generate graphs, draw conclusions and submit their findings in a business letter format. In partnership with the local business, the students each received a personal response from the company’s plant manager.
  Maximizing Area with Graphing Calculators Increase problem-solving skills, while using technology, in the context of a real world problem.

  Bridge Design This learning experience is integrated into Mohawk Central Schools Mathematics Course II curriculum in the laboratory setting. Students having developed a physical model using geometric concepts will use the Interactive Physics program to redesign or improve their designs. Additional components include a demonstration of computer skills, writing skills, and interpersonal skills.

  Banking Students will independently set up their own bank account at the bank of their choice. Students will pick one of the following essential questions and write a five paragraph essay answering the question. They will include this in their presentation.
  Career Exploration/Job Shadowing This unit is designed to guide students in making career decisions. They will begin by examining their interests, matching their interests to a career, exploring how to attain that career and finally job shadowing a person in that occupation.

Since technology is advancing rapidly, what must an individual do to keep current? Global Studies students will examine an assigned country guided by a series of worksheets and exercises to determine; (1) if Oneida Limited should expand its market into this country and (2) if the student would like to represent the company in this country. Through a series of data collec- tion and examination exercises the students gain insight into how to use the gathered information for decision-making in the culminating writing activity.   Birds of the Northeast - An Environmental Unit Learning about the environment is paramount if mankind is to survive on the planet earth. The efficient use of resources and the ability to co exist with the other inhabitants of the planet is essential. The effects of human existence on other species, such as birds often indicate how well we are doing. We must all discover what each of us can do to become part of the evolution of humankind and the evolution of the planet. What will we leave behind? A major theme behind this unit is the understanding and appreciation of the other species of plants and animals that we share this planet with. This is done in an effort to help us, and students, better understand ourselves, themselves, and therefor live a happy and fulfilling life. The only thing we really have is time.

  Transformational Geometry This unit covers all the transformational geometry objectives necessary for a teacher to teach in preparation for the Level II Math Regents for NYS.
  Terrestrial Biomes: Who's for Dinner As part of a biome unit students will have a basic understanding of the life systems existing within different biomes. Students will need to know what a food chain is, how it functions, primary and secondary consumers, and how to access the Internet.
  Celebrate the Arts Advertising Design Class, students are expected to complete assignments using different mediums, and will understand the roles a person in the Advertising Field has, includes meeting deadlines, being creative, working toward a specific goal and presenting completed projects in a professional manner. Students are upperclassmen, most have had some art courses and been introduced to the basics. Assignments are challenging, but allow students to succeed and see personal growth, allows students to create an Advertising Campaign in which they are able to support the arts program, creating T-shirts, designing posters, billboards, and videotaping commercials created from original storyboards. Theme of this campaign is "Celebrate the Arts."

  Writing an ecology children's book This is an activity packed unit with laboratory skill, cooperative groupings and lecture formats intermingled together. The purpose of this unit is to get students to learn about ecology in a fun and interesting way. Using technology, science skills, their imagination, and creativity,the students will produce a children's story book about food chains and food webs.
  Triangle Proofs and CPOCTAC When Students start proving that two triangles are congruent they seem to enjoy the proof process. The addition of the next theorem, corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent(CPOCTAC), can be troublesome for some students. In this unit, I will discuss strategies that will help students become more confident with their own ability to construct proofs. Envelope proofs play a crucial role in this process.
