  Student-made Web Pages...Show Off Their Work! Designed to teach students how to create a web page using Netscape Communicator's Composer and can be used by students in grades 3-12 to present their projects or research on their school's web page. Designed to be taught in a lab setting and will be used by the technology teacher in coordination with the classroom teacher.
  Famous Artist Create a brochure of research on a specific artists' life and work.
  "THE LIFE AND TIMES OF......" Cultural, political and social influences can shape an artists experience. To understand why a paricular artist creates in a particular manner, one needs to explore environmental influences. Students will assume the role on an investigative reporter and research an artist and the world in which they worked, in preparation for the creation of a 2-page newspaper using MS Publisher.
  Design a Business Card (3.5 x 2 inches) The student experience is within the Business Education program and falls within the course of Business Analysis/Business Computer Applications as well as graphic arts. To successfully complete this experience, the students need to know the components of a good business card and should be to be able to run the business card portion of a software program.
  Cyber Museum Page Designed to be a sequential experience for students to use the world wide web as a reference in order to create an informational page; purpose of unit is to direct the student from dependent to independent, then to a mentoring situation. The internet offers a myriad of graphic images to supplement the designer. Culminating experience allows student to interact with student from another grade or class, and act a mentor to the student. Extended experience allows student to create an original work of art based on an art style. There are three segments to this unit; prior to the unit the art student will have information and experience with elements of art, principles of design. Student will learn to gather information and graphics on the inter net, create a page using Netscape Composer,and to supervise another student with this process. Student will develop an original piece of art work based on an artist.

  Historic American Architecture Essential Questions: Why bother looking at local architecture? What styles of American Architecture are represented in local historical buildings? What kind of product can be made that will creatively communicate the identity and information about local historical buildings? How can this product be designed so that it follows principles of good graphic design and communication?

  Renaissance Feast & Fancy The teacher and students discuss the beginning of the Renaissance period and the issues that face the people of the time. Such issues as the beginning of a secular world, the end of the crusades, and the reformation.
  Concert Suite from Dances With Wolves - 4.3 MB Fi Focuses on preparing students to perform "Concert Suite from Dances With Wolves" at a public concert while emphasizing the interpretation skills students need to express emotions depicted in the music to their audience. Exposes students to many aspects of preparing a musical work of art for public performance and could be applied to the performance of similar compositions at any level a teacher might choose in order to develop these skills in their students. Could also be applied to the performance of similar compositions at any level for choral or orchestral organizations with small changes in terminology.
  West Side Story: An Interdisciplinary Analysis This unit focuses on encouraging students to appreciate and understand the musical West Side Story by analyzing the musical from different perspectives. The unit prepares Band and Voice class students to expressively perform West Siode Story at a public concert and English students to write a critical essay comparing the musical's plot to the plot of Romeo and Juliet.
  American Music History This learning unit uses many experiences that tie together to help the students see the relationship between them. It combines historical events in American history with Music and includes information how history influenced music. It works well with classes of any size in social studies and music courses.
  Digging Up daVinci Students use the internet to explore the art of a specific culture and create a powerpoint presentation that exhibits what the artwork characterizes about that culture.
  Recreating A Masterpiece In my Studio Art Course, students are expected to complete a variety of assignments using several different mediums, while studying the styles of a variety of artists. Students in this class are expected to understand when it is appropriate to use certain mediums, how to create the most effective piece of artwork, how to identify certain artist's works and how to read and evaluate critiques. This unit of study is a culmination of my studio art course. It allows students to share what they have learned over the semester while continuing to gain knowledge about a specific artist and create an original piece of artwork.
